In the far east, many people are taught to sacrifice for the nation or the community at large. I have a friend who is not happy in her marriage, but stays married because it pleases her parents. She puts aside her personal feelings because she loves her parents and believes or at least hopes that they have chosen the proper mate for her. This is literally such a foreign concept to americans. My american com padres, on the other hand, have total freedom of choice. Many of them are unhappy in their marriage because their me - never became we. Most are still focused on goals that they had when they were single - never willing to bend or compromise for the greater good of the family as a whole. Perhaps Madison Ave has feed us so many lies that we do believe we are the center of our on universe - even those of us who call ourselves Christian. You can't have a much greater example of sacrifice than that. Is this the world, the life, the future our ancestors envisioned, fought, died, and sacrificed for us.

What I know about life
Until you find your purpose, try to live with purpose.
You can recover from depression, homelessness, or just about anything else you put your mind to.
You can manage to have a good life, even if you don’t fulfill all your childhood dreams.
You can not win when you fight against yourself, and you have absolutely no chance in fighting God.
Good friends and a loving family are invaluable, treat them that way.
Loyalty and humility are terribly undervalued attributes.
There always exist more than one choice.
Most children are truly precious, the bad ones are usually rare exceptions.
Very few things in life are ever easy.
Patience, persistence, perseverance, and practice are all essential to success in life.
Your word and your credibility are inextricably linked.
Your perspective of the world may not change the world, but it can influence the challenges that life offers you.
If, in the end, you have not helped anyone other than yourself - then you have truly lead a meaningless existence.
Timing is everything. Unfortunately, it isn’t something we can often control. However, we can always prepare for when the time is right.
You can only capitalize on opportunities you recognize. Try not to let too many pass you by.
As much as it is practical, try to keep balance in your life (the spiritual, physical, financial, and emotional parts must all be in harmonious agreement).
